Having withstood the test of time, Reason continues to personify both tenure and standard as one of Australia’s true veteran’s of the underground Hip Hop scene with 15 years experience under his belt. The Reason story reflects true preservation of his belief in maintaining a constant yet positive presence.

Reason practices what he preaches by promoting positive content in a context that is truly street, yet with a personal message contained within. A lover of graffiti, politics, life and the environment, these are examples of the diversity that the listener envelops into their own conscience. Reason released his third LP 'One Step Ahead' in 2004, following on from Reography (2002) and Solid in 1999. Reason most recently released the EP “Life’s A Lesson” in 2006, featuring a bevy of international and local guests. August 2008 will see the return of Reason with his latest offering entitled "The Tides are Turning".

>>> More MP3s Coming Soon!

1. What are you listening to at the moment?

My daughters wiggles video, the new Drapht, SEN 1116 and some old EPMD to get the blood flowing.

2. What influences you musically?

The issues of today inspire me to forge forward... Uplifting and well constucted beats makes me wanna write... My friends and family... People and places that envelop my senses!!

3. What are you working on right now?

My new release which will be out at the end of August, titled, "The Tides are turning." It features Debris (Hilltop Hoods / Crossbred Mongrels), Trials (Funkoars), Pegz (Obese Records), Flak (Crossbred Mongrels,) Pressure (Hilltop Hoods), Daz (Downsyde), Ciecmate & Newsense (Hospice Crew), Ghost (Music for Heads, UK), old school legend DJ VAME, Lazy Grey and DJ DCE (Karsniogenics).

4. What can't you say no to?

My daughter has got me wrapped around her little finger (she's nearly 2) and sweet foods. Actually, doing heaps of exercise is my safeguard to counteract my sweet tooth.

5. What’s your favourite release of 2008 so far?

I know that it's a 2007 release, but Vents "Hard to Kill" still blows me away!! Every bloody time I listen to it, I am comforted by the grit and talent that IS the future of Australian Hip Hop. Maggot Moufs' is another that has that distinct Canberra flow that gives me that good vibe!!

6. if it wasn’t for hip hop i’d be…

happily listening to some Barrington Levi, maybe some gritty old Midnight Oil, campng by Lake Eildon catching some awesome sized Rainbow Trout and in the nose bleed section of a wiggles concert with my daughter Mia copying "Jeff's" every move. Ahhh the serenity!!
