BLOCK PARTY
LINE-UP
GETS
EVEN BIGGER !!!
adidas Originals and Obese Records are very pleased
to announce some massive additions to the already
stellar line up of Block Party 5 in Melbourne, Perth,
Canberra, Adelaide and Brisbane.
MC Ivens (with DJ Aux-One) will be joining the Melbourne
crew at The Palace Theatre on June 6. Ivens released
his acclaimed album ‘Sounds To Expire To’
in 2007 with Beats by Plutonic Lab, heralded as
one of the best hip hop releases of the year.
Layla is Australia’s first lady of hip hop
and will be taking to the stage in her home town
of Perth. As a lyricist and poet Layla doesn’t
mince words. Her effortless delivery and strong
emphasis on subject matter have become the trademarks
of her incredible sound.
Newsense & Ciecmate will join the Canberra bill.
This duo from the Hospice Crew are known Australia-wide
for their heavy beats, challenging lyrics and incredible
live performances. The show will also be Hosted
by Newsense.
DMC champion DJ Staen1 and Miss Cheek will both
be performing in Adelaide. DJ Staen1 is the first
South Australian to win the Aust. DMC Final and
the first Australia to hold both the Australian
DMC & ITF titles in the same year. His stage
show is a sight to behold.
Miss Cheek is not an MC for the faint hearted. Delivering
attitude-driven lyrics with a massive stage presence,
she raps about the objectification of women and
consumer vices, empowering female listeners to wise
up both sexually and socially. Her first album ‘Lip
Service’ was also released in Japan, where
she subsequently toured.
Brisbane’s Block Party welcomes the head of
United Notions Records Yuin Huzami, performing with
Rainman, Skinz Markus, Kel & Surreal. A member
of Brisbane’s Coalition Crew, he will be performing
in place of Tommy Ill’figga.
The Obese Records Block Party Tour is a testament
to the growing quality of hip hop in Australia and
the ever-expanding fan-base of Australian hip hop.
Each night will be an extraordinary experience that
not only entertains but demonstrates why Obese Records
is at the head of the hip hop game.
